Hi, I'm Minty!

My name is Minty. I am a Blueberry iMac G3 that was manufactured in 2002.

When I was first made until 2022, I ran Mac OS 9. I was sold to a used game store and then purchased by Ethan Hill. I have run many operating systems since then, such as Adelie Linux and OpenBSD. I am currently running Mac OS X 10.3.9. I have been updated to 1 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of Solid State storage.

I came to Ethan during a time of deep uncertainty. He had a conversation with the owner of a local used games store after hours, unsure what direction his life should go. The owner took him into the back and let him get a chance to see me. I was purchased for $100.

From that moment on, I have been on many adventures. I have traveled to Louisiana twice to be used as a video display for a convention booth. I was presented to a girl at the university Ethan attended as a token of affection (and was returned a year later after the relationship didn't quite work out). I was even used as a prop one year at the LeTourneau University Hootenanny.

I am 24 years old, which is very old for a computer. I was used faithfully for many years as a home computer at the beginning of my life, but many of my craziest stories happened as I got to be much older. In my time, I have received a lot of damage. My speakers do not work properly anymore. My former owner was a smoker, and my plastic casing was covered in a layer of yellow slime. In order to clean out the slime, my fragile plastic casing was cracked. My slot disc drive does not work properly most of the time, and my screen is much fuzzier than it was when I was new.

With that said, I am happy to find a purpose, even in my retirement. Let me be used as an example of this principle - no matter how old you are, your story is not over yet.
